Karen Merl Banoff, DNP

 

Ms. Banoff brings more than 35 years of health care experience to White Plains Hospital (WPH). She began her career in clinical practice, specializing in pediatric critical care, before progressing to consulting and senior administrative roles.  As Vice President of Organizational Performance, Ms. Banoff has been a leader and contributor to the Hospital’s rapid evolution since joining the Hospital in 2016.  She is responsible for the oversight of five principal areas: Clinical Quality, Operational Performance, Data Management & Analytics, Regulatory Affairs, and the Center for Cancer Care, and has helped the Hospital expand both its physical footprint and its advanced care services. As a result of her and her team’s efforts, the Hospital has achieved multiple recognitions for the quality of its care. In July 2022, WPH was the only Hospital in Westchester and one of just eight in New York State to receive a Five-Star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating offered.  In addition, WPH has also been recognized by US News & World Report, Money, the Leapfrog Group, and Healthgrades for its quality and exceptional patient experience. 

Ms. Banoff’s responsibilities also include serving as senior leader of White Plains Hospital’s award-winning Center for Cancer Care. Working closely with clinical leaders, she drives the strategic direction of the program, overseeing the Center’s research and clinical trials and interdisciplinary services, including acupuncture, art therapy, nutrition, navigation, and social work. Under her leadership, the Center was recently reaccredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and received initial accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer for its rectal cancer program.

Ms. Banoff serves on the Board of the Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Rochester, a Master of Public Administration degree in Health Services Management from New York University and, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in Administration/Education from Sacred Heart University.
