LAURENCE P. GOTTLIEB

RMC Bio1 Managing Director – Life Sciences and Health Technologies

 

Laurence P. Gottlieb is responsible for creating and managing RMC Bio1, a life sciences and health technologies initiative designed to enhance Robert Martin Company’s real estate portfolio, which includes 6 million square feet of office, retail, industrial and residential properties. He joined the firm in 2019 as a top strategic communications and economic development executive with over 30 years of senior management experience.

 

Before joining RMC, Laurence served as Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development for Nicholas & Lence Communications (NLC), a top NYC-based public relations and government affairs agency serving an impressive array of private, public and non-profit entities covering transportation, security, tourism, academia, the arts and government.

 

Prior to NLC, he was President and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (HVEDC). During his tenure, regional initiatives resulted in the creation of 15,000 jobs, $6 billion in new capital investment and the construction of 11.85 million square feet of commercial space. Larry launched a slew of award-winning industry cluster initiatives such as Hudson Valley 3D Printing and Hudson Valley EDs & MEDs, while shepherding the development of the region’s first biotech incubator at New York Medical College and the nation’s first MakerBot 3D Printing Center at SUNY New Paltz.  

 

Before HVEDC, he was Director of Economic Development for Westchester County, where he led the rebranding of Westchester as New York’s Intellectual Capital® resulting in nearly $500 million in new business expansion/attraction projects – all during “The Great Recession.” In addition to overseeing the Office of Tourism and Film and managing the Industrial Development Agency, he created the NY BioHud Valley life sciences industry development initiative and co-created the Hudson Valley Food and Beverage Alliance for the benefit of the entire Hudson Valley economy.

 

Larry brought an innovative approach to economic development, having spent many years as a marketing and communications executive: NY Market Leader and Managing Director for global public relations agency, Burson-Marsteller, managing campaigns for domestic and global clients such as PG&E, NYC Board of Elections, Entergy, NJ Casino Association, Elster and the FCC; Director of Communications for Entergy Nuclear, where he developed the groundbreaking Safe. Secure. Vital. and RIGHT4NY public education campaigns – winning PR News’ prestigious Public Affairs Campaign of the Year Award; U.S. Director of Marketing for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; and marketing director for Castle Oil and MicroVideo Learning Systems.

 

He has received numerous awards for his professional and volunteer work from a variety of local, national and worldwide organizations including his recent induction into the SUNY New Paltz Business School Hall of Fame.

 

Larry is a Pace University cum laude graduate with additional executive education certifications from Harvard Business School and Yale School of Management in corporate social responsibility, behavioral economics, digital media and data analytics. He is a current board member of the Westchester/Putnam Workforce Investment Board, founding member of the Westchester County Bioscience Task Force, and a past board member of the NYS Economic Development Council, Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Council and New York BIO.

 

Larry lives in Mount Pleasant, NY with his wife, and is the proud father of two exceptional daughters and one, somewhat exceptional papillon, Celine Diog.
